Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how ShoninFox ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use Spendmate, our personal finance tracker available at spendmate.shoninfox.com, and the related marketing site at shoninfox.com.
Spendmate helps you track spending, scan financial documents, and plan budgets. Because the service processes financial information, we are deliberately conservative: we collect the minimum data needed to run the product, we do not sell personal data, and we do not use your financial data for advertising.
Information we collect
Account information. You sign in with a one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone number. We store the phone number you use to sign in so we can authenticate you on return visits.
Financial data you enter. Transactions you record, budgets you set, savings goals, and any amounts you type into the app. This data is yours and is used only to provide the features you asked for.
Documents you scan. When you upload or scan receipts and financial documents for automatic extraction, we process the document to read the transaction details and store the extracted data so it appears in your account.
Usage and technical data. Basic analytics (page views, feature usage) and technical logs (IP address, browser type, device) so we can operate the service, diagnose problems, and improve the product. This data is not linked to your financial records.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to: provide and operate Spendmate (recording transactions, scanning documents, generating budgets and recommendations); authenticate you via OTP; respond to support requests; prevent fraud and abuse; and improve the product through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
We do not sell your personal or financial data. We do not use your financial data to serve advertising.
Document scanning
When you scan a receipt or financial document, the document is processed to extract transaction details (merchant, date, amount, category). The extracted data is stored in your account so it appears in your transaction history. You can delete extracted transactions at any time.
Documents are processed only to provide this feature and are not used for any other purpose.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers located in Singapore and Frankfurt. We use encryption in transit and at rest, and access to production data is restricted to personnel who need it to operate the service.
No system is completely secure, but we apply industry-standard safeguards and review them regularly.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active, so your history and budgets remain available to you. If you close your account, we delete your personal and financial data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain records.
Technical logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete the data associated with your account at any time from within the app. You can also request that we delete your account and its data by contacting us.
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal data we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any sale of personal data — we do not sell personal data.
We will respond to verifiable requests within one month.
Children's privacy
Spendmate is intended for adults managing their own finances. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we will delete such information if we become aware of it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
